Conscious Specialty: Brewing Magic with Good Vibes

Conscious Specialty: Brewing Magic with Good Vibes

We’re so proud to have visited Conscious Specialty and spent time with Lea and Culainn in person. These two are the heart and soul behind Conscious, and their passion for coffee shines in everything they do.

During our visit, we had the chance to try their latest release, the Worka Wuri from Ethiopia, and it didn’t disappoint. But the real highlight? Watching Lea demonstrate the perfect brew of everyone’s favourite—Jorge Mira from Colombia. This coffee has been out of stock for a while, so getting a taste felt like pure magic.

Lea and Culainn’s dedication to mastering coffee is inspiring. As independent roasters, they have the freedom to experiment and adjust, crafting unique tasting notes with incredible precision. We love that kind of flexibility—it’s the same spirit we bring to tasting coffee “just for fun”.

Their story doesn’t stop at roasting, though. Hearing about their travels to Peru, where they worked directly with farms and donated to improve equipment, left us in awe. People with good vibes always bring magic, and Lea and Culainn’s coffee is no exception.

Brewing the Perfect Cup of Jorge Mira

If you’re lucky enough to have Jorge Mira beans in hand, you’re in for a treat! Lea shared her go-to brewing method with us, and it’s all about precision and bringing out the coffee’s vibrant

What You’ll Need:

  • 20g of Jorge Mira coffee
  • 330ml of water (around 93°C)

Step 1: Start with the Bloom
Begin by pouring 55-60ml of water over the coffee grounds and let it bloom for 35 seconds. This allows the coffee to degas and preps it for an even extraction.

Step 2: Circular Pours
After the bloom, continue pouring water in small, circular motions. Add around 60ml with each pour, giving the coffee time to extract evenly. Repeat until you’ve added a total of 330ml.

Step 3: Wait and Serve
Let the coffee drip through completely before serving. The result? A beautifully balanced brew that highlights Jorge Mira’s vibrant, juicy flavours.

Lea’s method is perfect for unlocking the tropical notes that make Jorge Mira so special—think flavours of mango, apricot, and even a hint of guava.

Give it a try and enjoy the vibrant, fruity experience of this Colombian gem!

If you haven’t already, give Conscious a try—you’ll taste the passion and purpose in every cup.

Thanks for having JFF Coffee!
